Just Do Good Shit.
4 little words that epitomise
how our studio works.

The phrase was coined by Dave in April 2014. As part of a self-initiated project called Side vs Side. We asked ourselves various questions, with an open brief of answering them 'creatively'.

Dave's answer to the question 'What's the most important thing you've learnt in the last year' was Just Do Dood Shit. Fittingly, it was written on a brick wall, in toilet roll.

Over the years the phrase has become an internal ethos, and a benchmark for all ideas. The phrase has fronted a poster exhibition, aimed at bringing together the best creatives our city has to offer. We've sketched it, sprayed it, printed it, and yes, even tiled it.

We've never been happy with doing the minimial amount of work required. We prefer to go above and beyond expecatation, outside of comfort zones, to find the exciting, juicy solution. That is what it means to JDGS. If we 'Just Do Good Shit', good shit will happen in return.

Commercial Karma.

Over the last few years we've become a little jaded with the whole design industry. As we've grown as a business – and more importanly, people – we've seen the importance of helping others, and giving back. We've learnt a hell of a lot during our careers, mostly from fixing fuck-ups, and we want to share this knowledge.

We can see the pitfalls of this industry (we've lived it) and now we're in a position where we can help, rather than just moan about it. We've listened to many a student and young designer asking the same questions, so we know there's a scarcity of answers out there. No inspirational quotes. Just gritty, honest, insights.

Our hope is that Just Do Good Shit will become a platform to provide real help and advice. To inspire. To help you develop. To give you that nudge to do that thing you've been putting off. To grow. We've realised we crave fullfilment and purpose in our work, and this, is simply an extension of that.

We're serious about this, and we've already invested a lot of time and effort into getting it off the ground. Over the next few months, we'll be working hard to deliver something that should ruffle a few feathers, and bring some much needed clarity to those of us who've felt a little jaded.
